Stainless, broadcast subsidiary of FDH, was called upon by Miami, Florida station WPLG to build a 1,042’ broadcast tower with a 75’ candelabra tower to support multiple television and radio antennas and designed to withstand the strongest hurricane wind records. Between the knee braces there is a two-person full-height elevator, without which it would take more than an hour for tower climbers to reach. This engineering tower feat was featured on the cover of Modern Steel Construction magazine, and received an award from the Galvanizing Institute.
